Terrorists in Nepal…the Maoists

The Chargé d’Affaires at the US Embassy in Nepal Mr. Donald Camp has made it clear that violent activities being carried out by the Unified Maoists’ Party of Nepal has prompted the US to continue with its terrorist tag on the party of the ex-rebels. He also pointed out quite clearly that unless the Maoists give up violence completely, the US terrorist tag will also continue. Mr. Camp was addressing a program organized by the entrepreneurs based in Morang District.

Let’s fight for Nepal’s existence-2010

By Dirgha Raj Prasai
I am highly saddened by the article of the Maoist leader Dr. Baburam Bhattarai with an attempt at insulting Nepal published in Kantipur daily on 4 February, 2010. Dr. Baburam Bhattarai writes, “Feudal regime is unilateral. Prithvi Narayan Shah had started the feudal state structure. Prithvi Narayan Shah used to measure Khas-Arya castes in higher level whereas the other castes as people of lower level. The state created by Prthvi Narayan is based on caste and class exploitation.” With this, he sent a message that formation of …

Nepal Under Three Bahuns

By B. K. Rana
Nepal, currently under the three Bahuns: Girija P. Koirala [Bahun, Congress], Puspa K.
Dahal alias Prachanda [ Bahun, Maoist] and Jhal Nath Khanal [Bahun, Marxist-Leninist] is
going nowhere, apparently.
These three Bahuns recently formed a club which they hope will sort out the problems the
country is facing now. A note was received, discussing this club, from a Constituent
Assembly Member from Kathmandu, written in vernacular Nepali. The following information
has been translated from the original document.
The Constituent Assembly Member, in his write-up, tried to answer a perplexing question
about three leaders, and why …

Terrorism in the name of justice by the Maoists

The country has a government and all it’s bodies are fully functional. Despite the mentioned fact the Maoists are still running a parallel government with the aid and support of it’s illegal body the YCL and the PLA. The following is an example where the Maoists take the law into their own hands and say they are doing justice instead of terrorizing. In the same regard the Police have arrested 11 Unified CPN (Maoist) cadres including a member of the party’s Kochila Rajya Samiti from Itahari Tuesday morning on charges …

Lack of a national hero

Until now all that has been accomplished by the political parties and their leaders are fighting among themselves and blaming one another for being unable to draft the constitution on time. It is so amazing that Prachanda is heard criticizing Girija and the very next moment he is visiting Girija for a discussion on how to form the next government. Girija says the Maoists will not form the next government but is actually in the race to promote his daughter to even greater heights be it betraying his own …

Buddha was born in Nepal, not in India

On page 154 in the book, The post-American World Dr. Zakaria mentions incorrectly that though Buddha was an Indian and Buddhism was born in India, there are no true Buddhists in that country. Before anything lets talk about some facts related to Buddha’s birthplace. Kapilavastu is the name of a region of ancient Shakya kingdom that is considered a holy pilgrimage place for Buddhists, located close to Lumbini. The result of years of excavation and research by numerous international teams have concluded that Kapilavastu is in Nepal and is acknowledged …
