are Maoists the “people’s choice” in reality

prachanda-baadal-baburam-1The Maoists call themselves the chosen one by the people and all the decisions being made by them are given the name “peoples choice”. Are they really the peoples choice?? Or are they just using the peoples name to justify their wrong doing. Looking at the numbers it in reality does not look like they (the Maoists) are actually the choice of the Nepalese people. In all aspect of life, throughout the world, it is believed that majority rules and majority is considered the choice of the people. The numbers never lie and looking at the numbers, out of the 601 CA seats, the Maoists have bagged only 220 seats, which would roughly be 36 percent of the total seats. Now if you look at it this way, 64 percent of the total voters opposed the Maoists and voted for others. So how could the Maoists be the people’s choice when 64 percent (which would be the majority) disliked them and opposed them by voting against them. This is a very simple logic and common sense that the Maoists also listed as terrorists are not the people’s choice. At a time like this the venerable Nepali people who have been always terrorized will obviously keep quite and silently watch as spectators, the Maoist intervention in the country without retaliation of any kind and they are not to be blamed instead sympathized only. Directly looking at the current situation, the blame goes to the other political parties who knowingly, have been supporting the Maoists of their ill intentions. These political parties are responsible for bringing these terrorists to limelight from the dark shadows of the jungle, which they have themselves admitted at various times. They were all well aware of the Maoist intentions and initially did also list them as terrorists but greed for power and eager to have their names listed in the history books supported the Maoists though 64 percent of the voters had opposed the terrorists. The other political parties are also equally to blame and are traitors for letting the people down and supporting the immoral, unpatriotic, anti-social elements called the Maoists. The terrorists claim that the elections were held peacefully and was fair and unbiased, which sounds like a big joke and is tough to justify. Ten long years you terrorize the nation, kill people, specially those who oppose or disagree with you, loot them, beat them, rape them, seize their property, compel them to flee their hometown, create a havoc and after having done all of that expect them to oppose or speak against you, that’s exactly what the Maoists did and were able to obtain the 220 seats or the 34 percent of the total votes. Had these traitors, the political parties of the seven party alliance, before bringing these terrorists to the main stream politics from the jungles, had asked the Maoists to first surrender to the Government, dissolve the terror army the PLA and any such forces they had illegally formed and then contest elections, no doubt they would have only been a party with a name but no seats in the CA. It was only and just the fear factor that played the major role for the Maoists, which they had planned for and executed it. There is no where in the world where a political party has an army of it’s own besides the national army, which also indicates the ill intentions and double standards of the Maoists. Even today, the political parties and their leaders know for sure the fact that the Maoist’s are all set to capture the state but are ignoring the reality and are not standing up against the terrorists. The current on going issue of the Chief of Army Staff Mr. Kalawao is a living example of the ill intentions of the Maoist led government. The only reason they want to sack him is that he does not agree with the Maoists on merging the terrorist army the PAL with the prestigious Nepal Army. The three question raised by the Maoists are actually childish and not reason enough to fire Chief of Army. The allocated time frame by the Maoists was 24 hours which has been long expired and thus far the Chief has not been fired. They have tried everything possible within their capacity but have failed. They first offered the Chief of Staff himself various positions if he were to step down which didn’t work in the Maoist favor. Then they anticipated to gather support from other political parties by calling them to join the government and in return offering them portfolios and Ministries, learned through a very reliable source that the Maoists even offered Sujata Koirala the post of Deputy Prime Minister to please Girija to support them knowing that Girija’s weakness was his daughter. Now that nothing has worked in the Maoist favor so far, they are threatening to relinquish the government and take to the streets. Putting aside the ongoing dirty politics for a moment, lets look into why the CA elections were held and as to why this government was formed. The CA election was all about drafting and building a new constitution for Nepal and as to everyone’s understanding was the cause. In that case, why does the current government needs to change the leadership in the Army and why are they even fighting for it when building the constitution is their major duty?? The answer is clear, they do not want to build the constitution on time instead they want to have full control of the Nation as a whole before anything, which will allow them to do what they want without any opposition of any kind, even build the constitution as per their grand design and will. The Nepal Army is the only obstacle the Maoists are facing in their mission to seize the nation and they want to clear their way by sacking the chief and bringing in one who agrees with them and would help them merge the terrorists in the NA with some terrorists also bearing high ranks of Generals. The Maoists, specially Prachanda, Baburam Bhattarai and Badal have been seen visiting leaders of other political parties begging them to support them but all in vain cause the leaders of other political parties are now scared to jump into the well with the Maoists. Even if the Maoists who are stubborn and rebellious move forward to get rid of the Army Chief, their decision has to be approved by the President who can also ask for time to consult legal practitioners which could be until Mr. Katawal finally retires in July. The Maoists currently have one foot on a boat and the other on a banana split and it is interesting to see what they do next, which will not only decide their own fate but will also show if they are for real the people’s choice.
