Terrorists choose to remain as terrorists

maobadi-ladakuThe newly appointed US assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs Richard O’Blake forwarded three pre-conditions for the Maoists of Nepal to get their terrorist tag removed. First, refrain from the path of violence and stop terrorizing the people; second, say no to the anarchical behavior of the YCL and finally, play constructive role to keep going the peace process smoothly.

“The Maoists are not ready to accept those conditions” said C.P. Gajurel adding, “We give a damn to the so-called terrorist tag, let them keep us in the terrorist list…let us see how long they will continue with that.”
A statement like this from Gajurel does clearly indicate that the Maoists do intend to remain as terrorists and the reason behind that is, if they give up the violent and criminal side of their political aspect, the Maoists will be wiped out of the Nepali politics. This terrorist side of the Maoists which has created a fear factor in the people has kept them alive in politics which they would not give up for anything. They have ruled as terrorists and would not mind being called by their real name “terrorist”. It really does not matter to them whether they are listed as terrorists or not by the Americans. The YCL is the Maoist backbone fully committed towards the terrorist ideology thus enabling the Mother organization to fully function and operate in a totalitarian behavior.
