Buddha was born in Nepal, not in India

On page 154 in the book, The post-American World Dr. Zakaria mentions incorrectly that though Buddha was an Indian and Buddhism was born in India, there are no true Buddhists in that country. Before anything lets talk about some facts related to Buddha’s birthplace. Kapilavastu is the name of a region of ancient Shakya kingdom that is considered a holy pilgrimage place for Buddhists, located close to Lumbini. The result of years of excavation and research by numerous international teams have concluded that Kapilavastu is in Nepal and is acknowledged …

After Prithvi Narayan Shah, created a modern Nepal a new tradition was set by bringing Phulpati and Jamara to Kathmandu from the Gorakhkali Temple by a Magar priest. Hinduism is the foundation of civilization

BY DIRGHA RAJ PRASAI
Among all religions of the world, Hindu religion is considered as an ancient religion that is recognized as the foundation of civilization and as the most liberal democratic way of life. Hinduism & Buddhism are the identities & cultural assets of Nepal. The Lord Pashupathinath, Shoyambhunath, Lumbini, Barahachetra, Gosaikunda, Muktinath, Ridi, Janakidham, Devghat of Nepal, Kailash Mansharobar of Tibet (well accessed for Nepalese and Hindus), and Tirupati, Rameshroram, Jagannath, Badrinath, Amarnath of India are the symbolic shrines of Hinduism & Buddhism. The people of Nepal and …

Dark period of Nepal 2005-2009 (Deteriorating Scenario )

BY DIRGHA RAJ PRASAI
Nepalese democratic exercise faced the black period in between 2005-2009. During the period, Nepalese people tolerated the worst political practice made by corrupt leaders. The nation achieved the climaxed height of the lawlessness, theft, robbery, ransom and murders. The corruption is out of control. Nobody is responsible to control the corruption. A corrupt tendency has been institutionalizing as a system. Several constitutional authorities including the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) and the administrative mechanism have been paralyzed. The security forces themselves remain demoralized. …

Ministry of Foreign Affairs’s Negligience

by: ASHUTOSH SHRIVASTAV
The recent years have witnessed a policy of heavy-handed arrogance towards Nepal on the part of India , a policy often reinforced by the pusillanimity of Nepal ’s own Ministry of Foreign Affairs [MoFA].  Recently, a UNN member spotted a calendar on the desk of a senior ministry official in which Mt. Everest, one of the national symbols of Nepal, is stated to be located in “Nepal-India” (see attached image). Geographically, Mt. Everest is situated in the lap of Himalayas at the border of Nepal and China . …

as long as there is a kingdom, there is a king

Firstly, a happy birthday to the ex- king and may lord Pashupatinath grant him the strength and the wisdom to somehow lead the country towards peace and prosperity. It has been observed that Nepali people living in Nepal as well as abroad have been calling on the King for a come back to save the nation from sinking or even becoming next Sikkim, but the voice of the people seems unheard as there has been no initiation taken from the one who is believed to be the knight in shining …

Federalism and secularism: Suicidal game

BY DIRGHA RAJ PRASAI
Secularism and federalism is not the issue of Nepal. In the context of Nepal, this will be a suicidal task. It will break the unity of the Nepalese people. Actually, federalism means feudalism which can’t give the solution for the lower castes and poor. Similarly, secularism also encourages religious terrorism. Due to secularism and federalism, the Constituent Assembly can’t do anything; it will only be a missile to destroy Nepal. The Maoist model of federalism which is based on ethnicity can disintegrate the country. Racial federalism can …

the King looks ready are the people ready???

In the above video, one can witness King Gyanendra saying that if the people want the Monarchy can be reinstated. Prachanda was also recorded saying that the master has been missing and it the peoples duty to find the master. All of these come to a conclusion that the country does need the King, be it Gyanendra or the baby King. The political parties have done nothing for the nation rather than just disputing among themselves and fighting like cats and dogs to come to power. The million dollar question …

Fooled once, it’s their fault, fooled twice, it’s still their fault, fooled again, it’s our fault.

These unrealistic so called political leaders of Nepal are all living a double standard life. They present themselves and appear before the public in one particular manner but are all opposite in real life. They claim to be civil servants with responsibilities and liability towards the nation and the people but are the ones who divide the people and turns them against one another to achieve their personal gains. They have at all times lived with the principal, “divide and rule”. They have always divided the people somehow or the …
